Heritage conservation areas
Ku-ring-gai has some of Sydney's largest heritage conservation areas, and Hunters Hill is much the same. An internal bathroom renovation normally needs no approval. Anything touching a street facade, a window or an external duct might, and we flag it before you commit.

1950s and 1960s homes
The Lindfield house on this page was a 1950s home. Houses of that era have original galvanised plumbing, old timber floors and sometimes asbestos sheeting. We tell you what we find and what it costs before demolition day, not after.

Yes, and we prefer a good set of drawings. The Lindfield job was designed by Brooke Aitken Design, who described working with Rick and Rob as an absolute pleasure. We quote from the drawings, flag anything that will not work on site before we start, and build exactly what was drawn.
Our house is in a heritage conservation area. Do we need approval?
An internal bathroom renovation normally does not need council approval, even in a conservation area. Work that changes a street facade, a window or an external vent might, and we flag it on the inspection so you can check with council before you commit.
I own a unit in Epping, Macquarie Park or Hornsby. How does strata work?
You need owners corporation approval before we start. We prepare the scope, insurance, licence details and a work schedule for the submission, work within the by-law hours, and protect the lift and common areas. See our apartment bathroom renovations page for the full process.
