Failed waterproofing from a previous renovation
A lot of Eastern Suburbs bathrooms were renovated quickly for a sale or a rental and the waterproofing was never done to the standard. Bubbling paint next door, loose tiles and a musty smell are the signs. We strip the room, find the breach, and rebuild it to AS 3740:2021 with a certificate, which is what the Randwick and Kingsford owners on this page needed. Art deco and 1960s apartment blocks
Bondi, Coogee, Randwick and Waverley are full of older unit blocks with shared stacks, cast iron pipes and strata rules. The Randwick and Waverley units on this page are typical. We prepare the owners corporation submission, work within the by-law hours, and protect the lifts and common areas.

Sewer and drainage pipes
Old clay and cast iron drains under beachside homes crack, root and corrode. The Maroubra bathroom needed its sewer pipes replaced and a new slab poured before we could build the room. We CCTV every drain before quoting so a pipe problem is in the price, not a variation.

Salt air and fixture corrosion
Within a few streets of the beach, cheap chrome and poor quality screens pit and rust in a couple of years. We specify fittings that cope with the salt and we fit the shower screen to the finished room rather than retrofitting an off the shelf one.

Heritage and conservation streets
Paddington, Woollahra, Bellevue Hill and parts of Randwick and Waverley sit in heritage conservation areas. An internal renovation normally needs no approval, but a new window or an exhaust duct through a street facade might. We flag it before you commit.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in the Eastern Suburbs?

It is almost always a waterproofing or tiling failure, and it cannot be patched from above. We strip the room, find the breach, and rebuild it with a waterproofing certificate. If the original renovator is still around, a written assessment from a licensed builder is what you need to take to them, and our bathroom inspection service provides exactly that.

Will the salt air wreck my new fittings?
Not if the right ones are chosen. We steer you away from the cheap chrome and thin glass that pits within a couple of years near the beach, and because we buy at trade you usually end up with better fittings for the same money.
