After experiencing some plumbing problems, Nu Trend Plumber and Bathroom Renovations replaced all of our bathroom plumbing and completed a full renovation of two bathrooms, which included removing some walls and doing formwork for a walk-in wardrobe.

Ros and David had a few plumbing problems that had to get fixed in their property in Sylvania and once that was completed they turned their attention to renovating. They had a single toilet or powder room that was very dated and they really wanted another bathroom in the home.
After a site inspection we worked out a revised floor plan that could convert the toilet into an ensuite bathroom so that it would give them a new toilet, walk in shower, large vanity & more storage. They agreed on doing a complete bathroom renovation and we also assisted making adjustments to the existing, non-structural, walls to bring the design to life.
Our first step was to completely demolish the room back to the brick walls and timber framing. This would enable us to take space from the adjoining room to set up the new floor plan. The scope included new floor and wall tiling, a feature wall in the walk in shower with full length shelf, installation of a new wall hung vanity, mirror, sink & back to wall toilet.

Benefits of installing a walk in shower
It is true, you can go to Bunnings and buy a low-cost pre-fabricated shower that can be installed into a bathroom fairly cheaply. Although, just look at how stunning and functional a walk-in shower can be.
There is a seamless flow on the floor and wall for the tiling, it creates a sense of space and freedom & you don’t have to look at ugly plastic moulds or joins.
The other benefit is the single piece of glass is super easy to keep clean and the open area allows for great ventilation in the room. There is also less mould build-up due to the reduced number of surfaces, edges or elements for water to pool or sit after it is used.
The visual benefit is obvious, you can show off a feature wall tile, shower head & mixer tap to give any bathroom a feeling of more space.

The best way to add value or functionality to any property is to look at how all the spaces are used. For many adults once their children leave home they have lots of rooms or spaces that might not be used any more. Rather than buying another property you can add value to your existing home for relatively little cost. Such changes can also make it more functional & easier to sell it that becomes a consideration later.
For this bathroom renovation in Sylvania the existing single toilet was hardly ever used and was in many senses a waste of space. So by using free space from the adjoining room, by moving a wall, we could convert the single toilet with hand sink into a luxurious ensuite.
Once all the demolishing was completed we re-instated the walls with new formwork so that the water services could be set up & new flooring and walls be installed. While this type of conversion is an extensive renovation you can turn a typical two or three bedroom house into a more liveable property by transitioning from one master bathroom plus single toilet to a master & ensuite for the main bedroom. It’s the perfect way to cater to having guests or children come and visit while the owners maintain their privacy using their bathroom.
